How Novo Nordisk became the biggest company in Europe

On September 1st, the Danish pharmaceutical company overtook the French luxury conglomerate LVMH as the largest European company by market capitalisation. Ten days later, its stock price almost hit $200 bringing the company’s worth to more than $430 billion. The drug semaglutide has driven the company’s recent growth. Sold under the brands Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus, it has generated much scientific and public excitement for its effectiveness in treating type 2 diabetes and weight loss.
